Windows 8 is a shift towards cloud computing in such as way, that respects our personal choice of where we want to store our data. It gives us choice. This article explains the Windows 8 quick launch speed and other features that give us that choice.

Windows 8 is the next step towards cloud computing for users of the Windows platform. While Apple has released and service, and Google has released a machine that can handle it service, Windows 8 is designed to be a system that is a bridge between the way we use our computers now, and the way we will use them more in the future. The Windows 8 quick launch speed, updating speeds and other features will make the system integrate into cloud computing without taking away what we know now. That is a seriously better product than the others are offering. Here is an explanation of how that will work, and why it is the best way for us to move forward.

  • Web Based Integration. The Windows 8 operating system is designed to integrate the code used in web-based applications into the full use of the operating system. What that means is the web-based applications that you choose to use will have full access to the full processing power of your machine, and not just what is available to your browser. This element makes that part of the system fully integrated into cloud computing, as you need it, without being dedicated to that and not giving you choice, either way. This is not the case with Google’s Chromebook, or as is with iCloud, which is purely a service. Your Windows machine will be up and running fast and update itself even faster.
  • App Store and More. Windows will have an App Store, much like Apple, so you will be able to get all of your applications easy. On top of this Microsoft will release web-based apps to replace Microsoft Office, such as with Office 365. Windows Live accounts will incorporate more features so you can store files and data for those web-based applications online if you want. You will still be able to store them on your device if you want to.
  • Multi Device. Windows 8 will work on anything, from a smartphone and tablet to a laptop and desktop. This means when you change devices, you will be using the same operating system as with the other. Something that has never existed before. This will be very convenient and a pleasurable experience. As it stands, we have to get used to the way our phone works, how our tablet works, and how our laptops and desktops work. No one has ever offered this, and it is about time.
  • Portability. Windows 8 will have another very interesting feature. You will be able to move your whole operating system with ease, from one machine to another. Let’s say you don’t want to take your laptop home from the office. You will be able to store your settings on a USB stick and boot your machine at home with it. Your system settings and what you will use on your home desktop will be exactly where you left off at the office.

Windows 8 is an excellent way to deal with the shift to cloud computing without forcing us to commit. This is a very intelligent and respectful shift, no other operating system provides.
